This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Manage a portfolio of subrogation claims and responsibilities across all business lines
• Assess first-party claims to determine subrogation potential by reviewing loss facts, liability, and recoverable damages
• Delegate tasks to independent adjusters and experts while overseeing subrogation investigations
• Identify and seek recovery from liable parties and their insurance providers
• Evaluate questionable proposed settlements in consultation with the Recovery Unit Team Lead
• Communicate with responsible parties and insurers regarding Company payment requests
• Engage and collaborate with subrogation attorneys when disputes arise or enforcement action is required
• Review invoices to ensure compliance with company policies and agreements
• Pursue uninsured motorists, including sending DMV suspension notifications and restitution requests
• Maintain diary systems for follow-ups, required actions, and collection outcomes
• Keep claim files organized using IIS, Apollo, and Duck Creek claims systems
• Establish and track statutes of limitations on recovery cases
• Analyze trade journals, legal precedents, state laws, and insurance policies
• Retain and oversee outside vendors and specialists
• Review deductible claim files, confirm amounts owed, and issue formal demands
• Address inquiries related to deductible collections and resolve any disputes
• Monitor payments, suggest write-offs or referrals to collection agencies, and provide advice to Underwriting
• Collaborate with examiners and claims representatives on deductible and subrogation strategies
• Generate invoices for deductibles and issue reimbursement checks following subrogation recoveries
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience
• Basic mathematical skills
• Fundamental computer literacy and usage skills
• Preferred knowledge of claim investigation practices
• Preferred completion of insurance courses such as IIA or AIC in coverage, subrogation, legal principles, legal terminology, contracts, and business law
• 1–2 years’ experience in handling liability and/or subrogation claims is preferred
• Strong investigative skills
• Proficient in liability analysis
• Effective negotiation skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Capability to analyze issues, apply knowledge and logic, and draw logical conclusions
• Capacity to collaborate effectively with others, particularly in challenging situations
• Self-driven and capable of working independently while meeting deadlines
• Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality
• Attention to detail and accuracy
