R&D Engineer, Saudi & Gulf Arabic

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Turkey.

📋 Description

• Develop, train, and evaluate Arabic text-to-speech models

• Contribute to the training pipelines and assessment of models

• Translate linguistic and dialect feedback into actionable technical enhancements

• Assist with Arabic text normalization, diacritization (tashkeel), and grapheme-to-phoneme components

• Research and implement innovative voice, text, and data modules for the company's products

• Investigate and integrate third-party components necessary for product functionality

• Facilitate product integrations across various platforms and offer support

• Address technical inquiries from designated clients

• Implement enhancements and modifications based on user demand

• Update and maintain software installed at client locations

• Enhance product performance

• Implement coding and optimizations for product integrations

• Manage improvements and bug fixes within the R&D team

• Collaborate with teams from Sestek and Unifonic, providing ongoing TTS expertise

• Document research and development studies

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline

• Approximately 3 years of experience in software development

• Strong preference for experience in speech technologies (TTS/ASR), NLP, or machine learning

• Native proficiency in Arabic, with a strong command of Modern Standard Arabic and native-level fluency in Saudi/Gulf Arabic

• Capability to identify and distinguish Saudi dialects independently or with assistance from the Arabic Linguistics Specialist

• Strong familiarity with various Saudi/Gulf Arabic dialects

• Proficient command of English

• Proficiency in Turkish is advantageous

• Solid coding abilities, particularly in Python

• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks

• Additional engineering skills such as MLOps, data pipelines, Kubernetes, low-latency APIs, and Git/version control are beneficial

• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with linguists, clients, and other non-technical stakeholders
