Professional Services Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Oversee the technical delivery lifecycle for GitLab Professional Services projects, from initial scoping and discovery to implementation and handover.

• Develop both high-level and detailed architectural frameworks as well as implementation strategies for GitLab infrastructure and capabilities.

• Create and execute GitLab reference architecture implementations for both self-managed and cloud environments utilizing infrastructure as code.

• Lead migrations of source code management and CI/CD processes to GitLab, including large-scale enterprise migrations with Congregate.

• Deploy and set up GitLab in on-premises settings and major cloud platforms using Terraform, Ansible, and the GitLab Environment Toolkit.

• Assess and communicate considerations related to scalability, security, and compliance.

• Offer consulting in DevOps and DevSecOps along with guidance on best practices.

• Coordinate implementation efforts among GitLab teams, partners, and customer stakeholders in an asynchronous setting.

• Develop delivery kits, documentation, training resources, case studies, presentations, and methodologies for best practices.

• Mentor both Professional Services and partner consultants while leading enablement workshops.

• Maintain delivery automation assets with clean, maintainable code and appropriate testing protocols.

• Assist in scoping and creating Statements of Work, monthly release updates, technical evaluations, and staffing assessments while ensuring 55% billable utilization.

• Collaborate with customer project teams to clearly define task-level work requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred location is within PST, MST, or CST time zones.

• Willingness to travel up to 30% as needed.

• Proven experience in delivering two or more of the following: source code management migration, cloud architecture, DevOps engineering, or CI/CD consulting services.

• Experience in enterprise software development.

• Progressive experience in DevOps platforms, including the design and implementation of reliable, scalable systems with clear performance and security trade-offs.

• Hands-on experience with deploying and managing infrastructure in both cloud and on-premises environments using tools like Terraform and Ansible.

• Proficiency in writing clean, maintainable automation/integration code and validating changes through appropriate testing and code reviews.

• Experience with migrations to GitLab, including the use of Congregate or similar migration tools.

• Familiarity with data consistency and integrity principles, including ACID properties.

• Strong skills in problem-solving, decision-making, organization, and time management.

• Comfortable working in a remote, asynchronous environment.

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related advanced technical field, or equivalent experience.
