This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Develop modular, thoroughly tested Python code to transition models from research prototypes into production pipelines across extensive company and asset datasets.
• Assist in the prototyping of statistical, econometric, and machine learning models, including time-series analysis and regression, to forecast climate hazard impacts.
• Acquire, clean, and transform a variety of financial, building, and hazard datasets.
• Address missing data and anomalies.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and client teams.
• Document results and communicate analytical insights effectively.
• Convert climate hazard data into actionable financial metrics such as EBITDA impact, CapEx/OpEx, and credit risk.
• Develop and enhance model infrastructure under the direct guidance of the Principal PM for Economic & Financial Modeling.
• A degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline) or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficient Python coding abilities with an emphasis on clean, production-quality code.
• A foundational understanding of finance or economics and a willingness to learn.
• Basic knowledge of data engineering, including data sourcing, transformation, and cleaning.
• Familiarity with standard git workflows.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively with multiple teams.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the US.
• Experience with large datasets, Docker, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), or pandas/Polars is a plus.
• Coursework, projects, or practical experience in financial modeling, credit risk, or physical climate risk is advantageous.
• Coursework or experience in financial engineering, credit risk, or quantitative modeling is beneficial.
