Quality Control and Safety Director – Aviation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee quality assurance, quality control, and safety management for a federal aviation infrastructure initiative delivered for the FAA.

• Develop and sustain the program's quality management system.

• Create review processes for deliverables from contractors and designers.

• Ensure safety oversight across operational facilities in active service.

• Deliver the Program Quality Management Plan, Program Safety Management Plan, review process for deliverables, and program audit schedule within the initial 90 days.

• Formulate quality procedures, templates, checklists, objectives, performance indicators, and QA/QC frameworks.

• Direct quality audits, inspections, compliance reviews, nonconformance reporting, CAPA, root cause analysis, and lessons learned.

• Track quality and safety metrics, risks, incidents, near misses, observations, and corrective actions.

• Supervise incident investigations and emergency preparedness and response planning.

• Provide technical oversight for life safety systems throughout planning, design, and construction phases.

• Assist with non-resident field inspections and collaborate with engineers of record and relevant authorities.

• Ensure program practices align with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and applicable ISO 14001 standards.

• Maintain records, documentation, and reporting systems related to quality and safety.

• Prepare reports and briefings for the PMO Director, Peraton, and FAA stakeholders.

• Identify and address quality and safety risks while escalating significant issues.

• Work with the Environmental Manager to ensure environmental compliance.

• Offer guidance to program leadership on quality and safety matters.

• Provide training, coaching, and awareness initiatives.

• Lead and nurture quality and safety personnel as the program expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Capable of obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust determination.

• Required to complete the FAA background investigation.

• Must obtain FAA facility badging and a PIV credential.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Occupational Safety, or a related discipline.

• At least 10 years of combined experience in quality management and safety within large construction or infrastructure projects.

• Minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity.

• Proven experience in establishing and managing a quality management system, including plans, procedures, audits, and corrective actions.

• Experience in creating program-level plans, procedures, and templates from the ground up.

• Background in reviewing design and construction deliverables for compliance with codes and contracts.

• Familiarity with OSHA and federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.

• OSHA 30 certification is required.

• ISO 9001 auditor or lead auditor training, or an equivalent qualification.

• Preferred: Experience with federal or aviation programs, especially in FAA facilities or other active operational settings.

• Preferred: Professional Engineer license or fire protection credential, or direct experience in life safety systems design and review.

• Preferred: OSHA 500, CSP, or ASQ certifications such as CQM or CQA.

• Preferred: ISO 45001 or ISO 14001 auditor training.

• Preferred: Experience collaborating between a prime contractor and a federal client on the same program.
