This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Assess requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical designs to determine testing necessities
• Create comprehensive test cases, test scripts, scenarios, and test data that align with project requirements
• Conduct functional, integration, regression, and User Acceptance Testing across relevant VistA packages
• Confirm the removal or substitution of SSN data within workflows, user interfaces, reports, audit records, and related processes
• Ensure the correct implementation of enterprise identifiers and the expected behavior of applications
• Execute manual testing and, when applicable, automated testing
• Record software defects, unexpected behaviors, and test failures
• Monitor defects through investigation, correction, retesting, and resolution
• Work together with developers and Business Analysts to replicate issues and validate solutions
• Engage in defect triage and provide insights regarding defect severity, impact, and reproducibility
• Verify implemented functionalities against documented business, technical, privacy, and security requirements
• Assist with testing related to PII/PHI protection and relevant NIST control requirements
• Maintain traceability between project requirements, acceptance criteria, test cases, and outcomes
• Identify gaps in test coverage and suggest improvements to QA processes
• Take part in Sprint Planning, backlog refinement, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and daily stand-up meetings
• Collaborate with the QA Lead, developers, Business Analysts, and Product Owners throughout the software development lifecycle
• Relay information on testing progress, defects, risks, and obstacles to the QA Lead and project team
• Assist in testing and software quality activities for a Department of Veterans Affairs initiative aimed at reducing SSN usage in VistA applications
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
• Over 2 years of experience in software quality assurance or software testing
• Proficiency in developing and executing software test cases and test scripts
• Experience in documenting and tracking software defects
• Background in conducting functional and regression testing in enterprise software environments
• Experience collaborating with developers and Business Analysts throughout the software development lifecycle
• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory
• All selected candidates must successfully undergo a background check
• Capability to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance, including required fingerprinting, when necessary for the role
• Experience testing Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or other Federal healthcare applications
• Familiarity with testing VistA applications or MUMPS-based systems
• Knowledge of ADT, PCE, AICS, Record Tracking, VistA Audit Solutions, or other related VistA packages
• Understanding of PII/PHI handling requirements, HIPAA, NIST security controls, or VA privacy standards
• Experience with automated testing tools or methods
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments
• Selected candidates will be required to undergo fingerprinting at a government facility and complete a background check
