QA Lead – Billing, Revenue Assurance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Serve as an integral member of a Scrum team and engage in agile ceremonies while managing related artifacts.

• Take ownership of the testing strategy for billing, which encompasses rating, mediation, invoicing, taxation, payments, credits, adjustments, dunning, and reseller/white-label billing structures.

• Develop and document test coverage for month-end billing cycles, addressing cutoff and timezone boundaries, reruns, partial failures, and retry safety.

• Conduct revenue-assurance testing by reconciling CDR volumes with invoiced amounts and assessing the financial impact of discrepancies.

• Identify the root causes of billing discrepancies, differentiating between rating-engine defects and mediation or switch-side issues, including analyzing SIP traces or packet captures when necessary.

• Ensure the requirement intake gate is enforced so that user stories enter sprints with testable acceptance criteria.

• Establish and uphold documentation standards, ensuring requirement-to-test-case traceability and reviewable coverage per epic.

• Lead the automation strategy by determining what to automate, sequencing tasks, defining expected ROI, and evaluating the resulting test suites.

• Create and present billing quality metrics, including defect escape rate, coverage, defect density, and release readiness.

• Mentor billing QA engineers while providing technical guidance.

• Communicate and escalate product quality risks using data analysis.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in QA, including practical involvement with a production billing, rating, or payments system.

• Familiarity with rating and usage billing concepts: rate decks, prefix matching, billing increments, minimum durations, connection fees, and destination zones.

• Experience with subscription billing: handling recurring and non-recurring charges, mid-cycle proration, upgrades, downgrades, trials, promotions, and discounts.

• Background in invoicing processes: invoice generation, line-item totals, usage detail, credit memos, manual adjustments, refunds, and dunning.

• Strong SQL proficiency (joins, aggregations, window functions) capable of reconciling usage against invoices independently.

• Understanding of precision and rounding: differences between decimal and floating-point representation, rounding modes, line-level versus invoice-level rounding, and the ability to identify cent-level defects.

• Proven track record of leading or mentoring QA engineers.

• History of advocating for quality with evidence, rejecting untestable requirements, utilizing data to hold releases, and negotiating scope based on metrics.

• Proficient in using a formal Test Management System (TMS) and Jira.

• Professional proficiency in English, both spoken and written, with consistent availability during US Eastern business hours.

• Experience with Python and Pytest.

• Familiarity with Playwright.

• Knowledge of Allure TestOps.

• Experience with GitHub Actions and Jenkins.

• Knowledge of Grafana.

• Understanding of third-party tax engines.

• Plus: Basic understanding of SIP/VoIP call flows.

• Plus: Experience in REST API testing.

• Plus: Experience in payment gateway integration testing.

• Plus: Validation experience with telecom tax engines.
