QA Automation Engineer – Co-op

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain automated testing suites utilizing Java.

• Comprehend the underlying customer issues related to the testing process.

• Create tests for scenarios involving API timeouts, corrupted or inconsistent data, and systems that fall out of synchronization.

• Investigate failures to identify their root causes.

• Efficiently leverage modern tools, including AI, while carefully evaluating their outputs.

• Collaborate closely with developers through code reviews and team discussions to ensure quality standards are met.

• Conduct testing on the production integration platform utilized by actual customers.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have successfully completed a co-op term or possess relevant professional experience.

• You are currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

• A strong foundational knowledge of Java is essential.

• You have previously written automated tests, even if for an academic project (using JUnit or a similar framework).

• You have experience working with or have gained knowledge about APIs.

• Excellent analytical thinking skills are required.

• A thoughtful approach to adopting new tools, including AI technologies, is important.

• Capability to meticulously review generated outputs and confidently support the results.

• Curiosity, motivation, and a passion for uncovering insights that others may overlook are essential.

• Nice to have: Experience with testing frameworks or tools such as JUnit, Selenium, Postman, REST-assured, or similar.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with REST APIs and understanding how data transitions between systems.

• Nice to have: Interest in integration platforms (iPaaS).

• Nice to have: Curiosity regarding large systems and potential integration failures.
