QA Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Work closely with product managers and developers to enhance functional requirements.

• Convert requirements into thorough, reusable, and maintainable test cases.

• Create, develop, and run automated test scripts using Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or similar UI automation frameworks.

• Conduct both manual and automated testing of application functionality, performance, front-end behavior, and user experience.

• Sustain and improve test automation frameworks for speed, reliability, and coverage.

• Test web applications built with React.js and TypeScript.

• Identify, document, and track software defects with clear reproduction steps in Jira and TestRail.

• Work collaboratively with developers for quick defect resolution.

• Engage in Agile or Scaled Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.

• Encourage testing best practices and uphold continuous integration quality standards throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

• Champion software quality throughout the development lifecycle.

• Collaborate with distributed teams working in Eastern Time and North America business hours.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in building and executing UI-driven test automation suites using Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or similar frameworks.

• Proven experience with applications developed in React.js and TypeScript.

• Established ability to capture intricate functional requirements and translate them into structured, repeatable test cases and scenarios.

• Hands-on experience using Jira for story tracking and defect logging.

• Practical experience with TestRail or similar tools for managing test cases.

• Experience as part of an Agile or Scaled Agile engineering team.

• Strong dedication to software quality.

• High level of attention to detail.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines is a plus.

• Familiarity with API/backend testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured is a plus.

• Exposure to basic load, performance, or accessibility testing methodologies is a plus.

• Understanding of SAFe and cross-team dependency management is a plus.

• Ability to collaborate during Eastern Time (ET) and overlap with North American business hours.

• Proficiency in English for all interviews, documentation, and daily communication.
