This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the execution of multiple biodiversity monitoring initiatives concurrently, ensuring that timelines, budgets, deliverables, and contractual obligations are met effectively and punctually.
• Handle project logistics from inception to conclusion, which includes field deployment of automated recording units, equipment preparation, shipping, permitting, travel, and contractor activities.
• Undertake international travel approximately 3–5 times a year to support project execution, engage with partners, provide training, and participate in field activities.
• Assist in the deployment, maintenance, and retrieval of autonomous recording units and other biodiversity monitoring tools.
• Act as the primary liaison for partner organizations during the project implementation phase.
• Organize meetings and technical discussions with NGOs, research institutions, land managers, and internal staff.
• Offer training and technical assistance on field protocols, biodiversity monitoring techniques, data collection standards, and BirdsPlus Index tools and technologies.
• Represent American Bird Conservancy during meetings, workshops, field activities, and engagements with partners.
• Manage the collection, organization, management, and quality assurance of biodiversity monitoring data.
• Collaborate with software developers, data scientists, and technical staff to address data quality concerns and streamline analytical processes.
• Prepare technical reports, project summaries, presentations, and other required deliverables.
• Convert intricate scientific analyses into clear reports and communications for partners, donors, and stakeholders.
• Create figures, maps, data summaries, and supplementary materials that convey project outcomes and lessons learned.
• Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in biology, ecology, environmental science, natural resource management, or a closely related discipline.
• At least three (3) years of experience in coordinating biodiversity monitoring projects from planning through to completion, including managing project logistics, budgets, contracts, schedules, and deliverables.
• Familiarity with passive acoustic monitoring, ecological monitoring, or similar scientific methodologies.
• Professional proficiency in both English and Spanish.
• Proven track record of managing multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines, prioritizing competing tasks, and delivering exceptional results.
• Established ability to foster and maintain productive working relationships with partner organizations, research institutions, government agencies, local communities, landowners, or other stakeholders.
• Outstanding organizational, planning, and time management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in preparing professional reports, presentations, and other project outputs.
• Demonstrated capability to work independently while effectively collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness and capability to travel across the Americas (approximately 3–5 trips annually) to support project execution, partner engagement, and training activities.
• Dedication to the mission of American Bird Conservancy, which focuses on the conservation of wild birds and their habitats throughout the Americas.
• Experience working with GIS, ecological datasets, environmental monitoring systems, or scientific databases.
• Background in providing technical training, facilitating workshops, or building capacity among partner organizations.
• Familiarity with cloud-based collaboration platforms, project management software, data management systems, or scientific software applications.
• All travel expenses will be reimbursed.
• Contract positions do not qualify for benefits.
