Project Designer 2

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, engineer, and document physical security and life safety solutions with moderate to high complexity.

• Engage proactively with colleagues, vendors, consultants, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

• Identify cost-effective solutions that align with customer needs and project timelines.

• Offer design or drawing support throughout the development and as-built phases.

• Acquire electronic plans and design drawings from engineers, architects, owners, and contractors.

• Produce engineered drawings utilizing AutoCAD and related tools.

• Prepare record drawings and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.

• Uphold project design, documentation, and submission standards.

• Evaluate product specifications, applications, and electrical requirements for compliance with codes and AHJ standards.

• Participate in internal design reviews, project turnover meetings, site surveys, and walkthroughs.

• Provide project documentation, programming graphics, and manage material procurement.

• Secure and facilitate project permits.

• Communicate design progress, completion timelines, scope changes, and associated costs to Project Managers.

• Execute authorized change-order tasks and assist with pricing for change orders.

• Compile and revise submittal packages for approval.

• Offer operational support during the sales phase as necessary.

• Mentor and provide guidance to other designers.

• Carry out additional assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• College degree, trade school education, or equivalent experience.

• 3-5 years of experience in engineering, field service, or design project management.

• Over 3 years of experience with AutoCAD.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Strong oral and written communication abilities.

• Experience in one or more of the following areas: electronic systems, fire alarm & life safety, building automation, and/or healthcare (preferred but not mandatory).

• Capability to apply intermediate and advanced drafting techniques.

• Understanding of practical electrical and fabrication challenges.

• Familiarity with industry standards and codes.

• Ability to fulfill code and AHJ requirements.
