This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Assist in the Southern California Ignition Reduction Program (SCIRP), a collaborative initiative aimed at minimizing human-caused ignitions.

• Aid in the development and execution of roadside ignition projects.

• Collaborate with federal, state, and private entities.

• Contribute to fundraising initiatives for various projects.

• Facilitate project solicitation, prioritization, and the creation of the 10-Year Project Portfolio and Master Plan.

• Create project pipeline tools to enhance project prioritization, planning, and execution.

• Build relationships and enhance communication among SCIRP partners and project leaders.

• Prepare agendas, lead meetings, and document key takeaways.

• Work with agency partners to finalize environmental reviews and related tasks.

• Organize and supervise site visits.

• Provide regular updates to the SCIRP Executive Committee and Core Team.

• Collaborate with NFF staff and SCIRP members to secure funding from government, foundations, corporations, and individuals.

• Assist in the preparation of progress and funding reports.

• Oversee the advertisement, negotiation, and awarding of contracts for SCIRP project services.

• Stay informed about wildfire risk reduction, land management policies, regulations, trends, emerging issues, and innovations.

• Report directly to the Southern California Program Director and closely collaborate with the USDA Forest Service, California Department of Conservation, California Department of Transportation, and California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of an undergraduate degree in natural resource management, biological sciences, environmental policy, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• At least three (3) years of experience in project management, government agency relations, or natural resource management.

• Familiarity with the U.S. Forest Service, California Department of Conservation, California Department of Transportation, and California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

• Understanding of natural resource management and policy principles, practices, and concepts in Southern California and the Central Coast.

• Knowledge and experience with U.S. Forest Service and/or State of California land management policies, procedures, and regulations.

• Proven ability to work effectively in collaborative environments with diverse viewpoints.

• Authorization to work in the United States is required.

• Advanced skills in communication, coordination, and facilitation.

• Exceptional written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Capability to set priorities, manage timelines, create workflows, and juggle multiple projects and tasks.

• Proficiency in utilizing various document and data management platforms.

• Ability to thrive in a team-oriented and flexible environment.

• Self-motivated and focused in a fully remote work setting.

• A valid U.S. driver's license and a clean driving record are essential.

• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites in Southern California and the Central Coast as required.

• Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail.

• Reliable internet access and a dedicated workspace are necessary.
