Project Construction Technician, Level 1

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee quality assurance and work performance for landfill construction projects across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern regions.

• Monitor construction activities and conduct field tests on soils and earthwork.

• Inspect the installation of geosynthetic liners.

• Prepare daily reports to track and document construction processes.

• Serve as the primary CQC/CQA representative on-site.

• Collaborate with project Owners, Contractors, third-party testing laboratories, and GAI engineers to ensure adherence to project plans and specifications.

• Supervise and provide training for other GAI construction technicians.

• Carry out routine inspections, checks, tests, and sampling for power generation construction oversight.

• Evaluate geosynthetic liner systems for environmental containment, conduct concrete testing, and perform soil assessments.

• Adhere to quality control standards and carry out audits.

• Record inspection, testing, and quality control outcomes.

• Coordinate the calibration of testing equipment, tools, and devices.

• Assist in drafting and revising inspection procedures, protocols, and checklists.

• Interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and project specifications.

• Aid in the preparation of certification reports upon project completion.

• Conduct and supervise field monitoring on multi-site/phase construction projects.

• Develop and authenticate reports and documentation related to construction, materials, integration, equipment, and operations.

• Support Task Managers and Project Managers with the technical elements of projects.

• Regularly engage with practice leaders, clients, officials, contractors, and others.

⛳️ Requirements

• Required experience in construction quality control (CQC) or construction quality assurance (CQA) for geosynthetic liner systems installation at landfills.

• Willingness to travel to serviced regions, with occasional project support at more distant sites is essential.

• At least 5 years of experience in landfill construction CQC/CQA projects.

• Experience should include geomembrane installation, structural fill placement, protective cover placement above geomembranes, installation of drainage structures, and sediment ponds.

• Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience.

• High School diploma or equivalent field of study.

• Valid Driver’s License.

• OSHA 10-hour training is preferred, but not mandatory.

• Certification in geosynthetic placement from programs like the Geosynthetic Institute (GSI) Inspector Certification Program or equivalent is preferred but not required.

• American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Testing Technician – Grade 1 certification is preferred but not required.

• Capability to lift/maneuver up to 49 lbs.

• Proficiency in operating mid-size or full-size trucks off-road in varying weather conditions.
