Programmer Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +13 more states.

📋 Description

• Engage in the analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, documentation, and support of enterprise business applications.

• Develop, maintain, and provide support for IBM i applications utilizing RPGLE, CLLE, embedded SQL, Db2 for i, and related development tools.

• Analyze business processes and convert user requirements into functional and technical specifications.

• Troubleshoot issues with production applications, identify root causes, and execute corrective measures.

• Create and sustain technical and user documentation, support notes, and operational procedures.

• Address reporting, analytics, and data extraction requirements using SQL, Cognos, Sequel, or similar tools.

• Participate in modernization initiatives that involve application refactoring, enhanced documentation, automation, integration, and improvements in user experience.

• Utilize approved AI-assisted tools, where applicable, to enhance development productivity, documentation, analysis, testing, and knowledge discovery, while adhering to company policy and data protection regulations.

• Collaborate with business users, IS team members, and management to prioritize tasks, communicate progress, and deliver solutions that align with business objectives.

• Share best practices and technical expertise with team members.

• Provide after-hours support for critical production systems, scheduled implementations, or urgent software issues affecting business operations.

• Travel up to 5% may be necessary.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

• Experience with VAI S2K or comparable ERP/business applications.

• Background in healthcare distribution, supply chain, finance, operations, or related business sectors.

• Experience in application modernization, automation, reporting, or process optimization.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development or productivity tools is advantageous.

• Responsible use of AI-assisted tools in line with company policies and data protection regulations.

• Proficiency in RPGLE, CLLE, IBM i development concepts, subfiles, service programs, subprocedures, prototypes, free-format RPG, and embedded SQL.

• Working knowledge of Db2 for i, SQL-based data analysis, application troubleshooting, and production support methodologies.

• Capability to analyze business requirements, identify root causes, and propose practical system or process enhancements.

• Ability to produce clear technical documentation, support procedures, and user-facing instructions.

• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with business users, technical team members, and management.

• Competence in prioritizing conflicting demands and completing assigned tasks within set deadlines.

• Three or more years of experience in developing and supporting IBM i business applications within a production enterprise environment.

• Experience with RPGLE, CLLE, embedded SQL, Db2 for i, and application support in a business context.

• Familiarity with reporting or analytics tools such as Query/400, SQL, Cognos, or equivalent reporting platforms.

• Demonstrated ability to manage assigned tasks, meet deadlines, communicate status, and handle multiple priorities.

• Successfully pass a pre-employment (post-offer) background check and drug screening.
