This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands, +1 more country.
• Establish the engineering vision across the Retail Media and Marketplace sectors.
• Determine the areas where the platforms should integrate or remain distinct.
• Lead an engineering team of approximately 40 engineers distributed across 5–7 teams.
• Cultivate Engineering Managers and their respective teams.
• Shape the organization as the domains progress.
• Foster an environment with clear ownership and autonomy.
• Take responsibility for delivery, reliability, architecture, and technical debt.
• Enhance engineering maturity and empower teams to operate swiftly without sacrificing quality.
• Collaborate on roadmaps with Product and Commercial teams.
• Align engineering priorities with take rate, advertiser ROAS, seller economics, and contribution margin.
• Manage engineering relationships with external platforms, integrators, and agencies.
• Make decisions on build/buy/partner strategies and supervise integrations, SLAs, and vendor performance.
• Report to the Executive Director of Engineering / VP of Engineering.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Commercial leadership.
• Over 3 years of experience in leading multiple engineering teams through managers or leads.
• Proven track record of successfully guiding organizations through significant transitions, such as merging domains, introducing new scopes, or replacing platforms.
• Experience in developing commercial B2B platforms, such as marketplaces, retail media, ad tech, payments, or seller/partner platforms.
• Background in high-traffic and transactional systems.
• Strong technical judgment paired with commercial acumen.
• Ability to link engineering decisions to business outcomes.
• Confidence in collaborating with senior Product and Commercial stakeholders.
• Demonstrated measurable advancements in engineering excellence.
• Comfort in navigating ambiguity, external partnerships, and competing priorities.
• Proficient communication skills in English.
• Membership in Urban Sports Club (M) package.
