This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Lead the strategic priorities and grantmaking portfolio of the Cement & Building Materials team.
• Report directly to the Director of Cement and Building Materials.
• Oversee the entire lifecycle of grants, including scoping, assessment, structuring, and evaluation.
• Cultivate relationships with grantees, understand their needs, facilitate two-way information flow, and receive regular updates.
• Identify and evaluate new opportunities within the cement and building materials sectors, especially in emerging markets.
• Collaborate with colleagues and other ClimateWorks Foundation teams on grantmaking and integrated strategies.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.
• Attend relevant global events.
• Build and sustain relationships with grantees, re-grantors, funders, academic and industry experts, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor innovations, decarbonization pathways, and policies, with a focus on Africa, India, and Asia.
• Facilitate knowledge-sharing opportunities through webinars, meetings, blog posts, and other formats.
• Prepare proposals, documents, briefings, budgets, and communication materials.
• Ensure that knowledge is disseminated through written communications and both online and in-person events.
• Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement strategic plans and grantmaking priorities.
• Identify potential new grantees, assess them, and develop potential grant proposals.
• Assist in funder outreach through meetings and proposal writing.
• Participate in program, Global Industry Hub, and ClimateWorks meetings and retreats.
• Attend an annual in-town week in San Francisco, an all-staff retreat, and a departmental retreat.
• 5–7 years of experience in program management, grantmaking, or partnership development in climate, industry, or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of industrial decarbonization, particularly in the cement and building materials domain.
• Familiarity with the cement, concrete, and building industry.
• Located in a European time zone, specifically BST, CET, or regions aligned with BST or CET.
• Capability to operate across global time zones, including regular calls with California and frequent interactions with India, Africa, and Asia.
• Willingness to engage in international travel, approximately three to four trips annually.
• Experience in managing grants or collaborating with non-profits, foundations, or multilateral initiatives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write for general audiences.
• Resourceful, possessing good judgment, and demonstrating a commitment to excellence, integrity, and lifelong learning.
• Ability to initiate and manage projects effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Research and analytical skills to identify and assess innovative solutions and ideas.
