Program Manager, AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Document and oversee user requirements for NWS science and research, especially in AI/ML and social science data integration initiatives.

• Manage AI/ML projects that span across various offices and disciplines.

• Prepare proposals and project plans.

• Oversee project budgets, timelines, and scope.

• Assist team execution and pinpoint collaboration opportunities among NWS, NOAA, academia, and private entities.

• Organize presentations, documentation, and speaking points for NOAA and NWS leadership.

• Create public speaking notes and presentation materials for AI/ML-related media inquiries.

• Support the OSTI Chief Scientist and handle responses to data requests and general tasks.

• Develop and consistently refine an AI Strategic Plan and its implementation strategy.

• Assess AI policies and legislation, draft summaries, and suggest implementation methods.

• Act as the Secretariat for the NWS AI Working Group and NOAA AI Executive Committee.

• Establish agendas, manage tasks, take meeting notes, and create internal and external communications.

• Assist in the preparation for the NOAA Science Advisory Board and NOAA Science Council.

• Collaborate with stakeholders for advisory board and council activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's Degree in business, management, IT, or a related discipline.

• 12 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in program management.

• Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

• Skilled in Smartsheet and Visio.

• Experienced with cloud-based collaboration tools.

• Current Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification or equivalent is required.

• Strong grasp of portfolio, program, and project management methodologies.

• Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

• Must be qualified to obtain and maintain a Low Risk / Public Trust clearance.

• Experience in legislative environmental communications is preferred.

• Occasional travel to NOAA facilities in the Washington, DC Metro Area may be necessary.
