This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Oversee the design, execution, and enhancement of program evaluation frameworks across AFT initiatives.
• Create evaluation plans that align with program objectives.
• Establish uniform evaluation methodologies across various programs while catering to specific program requirements.
• Identify avenues for expanding and enhancing the organization's evaluation capacity.
• Design and implement both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
• Manage data collection efforts to guarantee data quality, consistency, and confidentiality.
• Assist in the development of an internal database and data management system.
• Synthesize findings into actionable insights that support program enhancement and organizational learning.
• Prepare technical reports, summaries, presentations, and other communications to convey evaluation results.
• Convert evaluation findings into practical recommendations for staff, leadership, funders, and partners.
• Contribute evaluation insights to grant reports, publications, presentations, and organizational communications.
• Lead the development of a comprehensive organization-wide impact evaluation system and toolkit.
• Collaborate with program staff and external partners throughout the evaluation process.
• Provide technical assistance regarding evaluation design, data collection, and interpretation.
• Facilitate workshops, meetings, and discussions with stakeholders.
• Identify and implement innovative evaluation methods, tools, and best practices.
• Contribute to applied social science research on program effectiveness and participant outcomes.
• Integrate evaluation findings into program planning, strategic decision-making, and organizational learning.
• Report to the Senior Social Scientist and collaborate internally and externally within AFT’s Research division.
• A Master’s degree in a social science-related field is preferred, or a related Bachelor’s degree.
• A documented 2-5 years of professional experience in program evaluation.
• A preferred background in agriculture, ecosystem services, environmental science, or a similar field.
• Documented experience with both qualitative and quantitative data.
• Experience conducting surveys using software such as Survey Monkey or Qualtrics.
• Experience in managing confidential data and ensuring respondent anonymity using data management systems.
• Proficient in analyzing quantitative data using tools such as Excel or R.
• Proficient in analyzing qualitative data using software like NVivo or Dedoose.
• Experience in group facilitation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into accessible language for diverse audiences.
• A self-starter with the ability to work independently.
• A collaborative and constructive team member.
• A strong commitment to AFT’s mission of preserving farmland, promoting sustainable practices, and supporting farmers.
• Ability to work during regular business hours in a local US time zone.
• Willingness to occasionally work evenings or weekends.
• Some travel may be required.
