This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.
• Oversee the precise distribution of financial aid and scholarships.
• Evaluate student records and implement updates and corrections as necessary based on documentation.
• Utilize professional judgment to amend FAFSA data elements and assess eligibility.
• Inform students and parents about documentation requirements.
• Review and validate documentation, making necessary adjustments to student eligibility.
• Record situations along with any changes or adjustments made.
• Collaborate with team members to establish daily priorities and allocate tasks effectively.
• Liaise with colleagues and SFS staff to address issues and ensure student needs are fulfilled.
• Tackle complex problems by analyzing documents and investigating federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations.
• Manage conflicts, address complaints, and develop preventive strategies.
• Design, create, and implement educational service programs related to financial aid and scholarships.
• Advise customers and clarify processes in person, online, or via telephone.
• Address internal customer inquiries.
• Respond to "acknowledged" and "In Process" tickets and assist during peak ticket times.
• Keep abreast of evolving rules, regulations, policy bulletins, and statutes.
• Train staff in your areas of expertise.
• Carry out other related duties assigned by the supervisor and senior SFS staff.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least three (3) years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience in a fast-paced, high-volume customer-focused role.
• Background in reviewing, critiquing, and analyzing customer information leading to informed decisions.
• Equivalent combinations of related education and/or experience will be taken into account.
• Familiarity with Word, Excel, complex information systems, and/or relational databases preferred.
• Experience with the Banner Student Information System is desirable.
• Previous work in higher education or a similar administrative, data-driven field preferred.
• Skills in problem-solving, analytical thinking, organization, prioritization, documentation, mathematics, communication, teamwork, and deadline management.
• Strong computer proficiency, particularly in Word and Excel.
• Capability to obtain and maintain access to federal databases such as FAA Access, COD, and NSLDS.
• All qualifications must be satisfied by the time of employment.
• 37.5-hour work week.
