This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in financial management and oversee post-award administration tasks for the Graduate Studies Office of the School of Medicine.
• Oversee post-award grant administration and financial operations for specified institutional grant mechanisms.
• Create and maintain budgets, spending forecasts, and financial projections.
• Track expenditures, evaluate budget-to-actual discrepancies, and suggest corrective measures.
• Generate and distribute monthly or bi-monthly financial reports to Principal Investigators and leadership.
• Manage salary allocations, effort adjustments, labor distributions, revenue tracking, and financial reconciliations.
• Handle reporting obligations, Other Support documentation, Just-in-Time submissions, and sponsor deliverables.
• Collaborate with subcontracting institutions to address budgeting, invoicing, and financial management challenges.
• Ensure adherence to GAAP, federal regulations, NIH guidelines, sponsor requirements, and institutional policies.
• Act as a subject matter expert for NIH Training, Fellowship, and Career Development awards.
• Oversee stipend administration, GAP coverage, insurance and benefit allocations, unallowable OPE transfers, and XTrain appointments and terminations.
• Provide support for internal and external audits.
• Conduct complex financial analyses, evaluations, forecasting, and reporting.
• Utilize Oracle Discoverer, Grants Accounting, Labor Distribution, and related systems.
• Assist with pre-award Other Support documents, budgets, personnel reports, RPPR submissions, and prior approval requests.
• Cross-train and mentor colleagues.
• Engage in departmental initiatives, strategic projects, team activities, and process enhancements.
• Offer backup support for pre-award tasks and undertake other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
• At least 2 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience.
• Previous experience in an Academic Health Center or relevant financial roles performing analysis related to operational improvements and business cases.
• Highly skilled in PC usage, including database and spreadsheet applications.
• Intermediate spreadsheet capabilities, encompassing complex functions, formulas, and formatting.
• Experience with relational databases.
• Knowledge of financial reporting concepts such as cost accounting and net present value analysis.
• Advanced understanding of NIH T, F, and K mechanisms and related post-award administration requirements.
• Proficiency in sponsored project financial management, compliance, labor distribution, and effort reporting.
• Strong analytical, forecasting, and problem-solving abilities with a knack for translating intricate financial data into actionable insights.
• Proven track record of collaborating with faculty, administrators, and institutional stakeholders in a complex academic research setting.
• Openness to learning new systems, including XTrain and InfoEd.
• Dedication to continuous process improvement, customer service, and operational excellence.
