This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.
• Oversee the precise distribution of financial aid and scholarships.
• Evaluate student records and implement updates and corrections as required by documentation.
• Utilize professional judgment granted by the Department of Education to modify FAFSA data elements.
• Communicate necessary documentation requirements to students and their parents.
• Review and authenticate received documentation, making informed eligibility modifications.
• Record circumstances, changes, and adjustments thoroughly.
• Collaborate with colleagues to establish daily priorities and distribute workloads effectively.
• Engage with team members and Student Financial Services staff to address issues and support student requirements.
• Resolve intricate problems through document analysis and research on federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations.
• Manage conflicts, address complaints, and develop proactive prevention strategies.
• Design, build, and implement educational service programs related to financial aid and scholarships.
• Advise customers and clarify processes in person, online, or via telephone.
• Address inquiries from internal customers.
• Respond to “acknowledged” and “In Process” tickets and provide assistance during peak periods.
• Stay updated on changing rules, regulations, policy bulletins, and statutes.
• Train staff in areas of specialization.
• Carry out other related duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
• Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume customer service role.
• Proven ability in reviewing, critiquing, and analyzing customer information leading to effective decisions.
• Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, complex information systems, and/or relational databases is preferred.
• Familiarity with the Banner Student Information System is desired.
• Experience in higher education or a related administrative, data-driven field is preferred.
• Strong skills in problem-solving, analytical thinking, mathematics, organization, prioritization, documentation, and computer usage.
• Capability to manage multiple tasks while applying sound analytical and professional judgment.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively.
• Proficiency in understanding, interpreting, and following complex instructions.
• Ability to function as part of a collaborative team.
• Effective communication and interaction skills with individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
• Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented, student-centered environment.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
• Professionalism must be exhibited at all times.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain access to federal databases such as FAA Access, COD, and NSLDS.
• 37.5-hour work week.
