This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Design and implement tools and workflows to analyze clinical genomic data and streamline bioinformatics processes.
• Create web applications for visualizing and interacting with genomic data, including IGV-based or browser-native genomic viewers.
• Enhance observability, monitoring, alerting, and reliability for laboratory-facing and bioinformatics production systems.
• Detect opportunities for software automation and identify scalability challenges.
• Deliver product features and enhancements with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose complex issues across interconnected systems.
• Write well-tested, documented, maintainable, and defect-free code.
• Utilize bioinformatics algorithms, statistical methods, and engineering practices.
• Collaborate with molecular biologists and laboratory stakeholders on assay development, workflows, and genomics applications.
• Assess genomic and operational data quality, focusing on improvement, consistency, and traceability.
• Assist with regulatory verification, validation, and documentation processes.
• Manage feature development, operational support, incident response, and ongoing improvements in a production setting.
• Work alongside bioinformatics R&D, clinical lab analysts, and data analytics teams to create site-agnostic clinical workflow solutions.
• Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Engineering, OR a Ph.D., OR a Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years of experience in the same fields.
• At least 2 years of experience with short-read and long-read sequencing platforms such as Illumina or PacBio.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with bioinformatics algorithms and genomic data analysis.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience with scalable bioinformatics infrastructure and workflow orchestration tools like Docker, Nextflow, or GitHub Actions.
• At least 2 years of experience with regulatory standards including CLIA, CAP, and HIPAA for clinical genomics applications.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in full-stack web development using frameworks such as Django, Flask, or React.
• At least 3 years of experience in Python, JavaScript, or Java.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with command-line tools and shell scripting in UNIX/Linux environments.
• At least 2 years of experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience with version control, testing, code review, and documentation practices.
• At least 1 year of experience with software deployment practices and tools such as Docker, CI/CD, and GitHub Actions.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience using AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude.
• At least 1 year of experience with interactive data visualization tools such as Plotly.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience with observability and monitoring platforms like Grafana, Datadog, or PagerDuty.
