This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Design tools and workflows to assess clinical genomic data and streamline bioinformatics processes.
• Create web applications for visualizing and interacting with genomic data, such as IGV-based or browser-native genomic viewers.
• Enhance observability, monitoring, alerting, and reliability for lab-facing and bioinformatics production systems.
• Detect and resolve software automation opportunities and scalability challenges.
• Deliver product features and enhancements with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose intricate issues across interconnected systems.
• Utilize bioinformatics algorithms, statistical methods, and engineering practices.
• Collaborate with molecular biologists and lab stakeholders on assay development, workflows, and genomics applications.
• Assess the quality of genomic and operational data, improving quality, consistency, and traceability.
• Comprehend regulatory requirements for verification, validation, and documentation.
• Produce technical documentation for compliance and operational activities.
• Balance feature development, operational support, incident response, and ongoing enhancement in a production setting.
• Master’s degree with 3 or more years of experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Engineering, OR Ph.D., OR Bachelor’s degree with 6 or more years of experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Engineering.
• 2 or more years of experience with short-read and long-read sequencing platforms such as Illumina or PacBio.
• 2 or more years of experience applying bioinformatics algorithms to genomic data analysis.
• 2 or more years of experience with scalable bioinformatics infrastructure, including workflow orchestration using tools like Docker, Nextflow, or GitHub Actions.
• 2 or more years of experience with regulatory requirements, including CLIA, CAP, and HIPAA, relevant to clinical genomics applications.
• 1 or more years of experience in full-stack web development, utilizing frameworks like Django, Flask, or React.
• 3 or more years of experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.
• 3 or more years of experience with command-line tools and shell scripting in a UNIX/Linux environment.
• 2 or more years of experience with SQL and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.
• 1 or more years of experience with version control, testing, code review, and documentation practices.
• 1 or more years of experience with software deployment practices and tools such as Docker, CI/CD, and GitHub Actions.
• 1 or more years of experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude.
• 1 or more years of experience with interactive data visualization tools like Plotly.
• 1 or more years of experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Datadog, or PagerDuty.
