This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Design tools and workflows to analyze clinical genomic data and streamline bioinformatics processes.
β’ Create web applications for visualizing and interacting with genomic data, including IGV-based or browser-native viewers.
β’ Enhance observability, monitoring, alerting, and reliability of lab-facing and bioinformatics production systems.
β’ Recognize and resolve software automation opportunities and scalability challenges.
β’ Implement product features and enhancements autonomously.
β’ Diagnose complex problems across integrated systems.
β’ Utilize bioinformatics algorithms, statistical methods, and engineering techniques.
β’ Provide solutions in various product areas including somatic, germline, large events, metagenomics, copy number variation, repeat expansion detection, or structural variation.
β’ Collaborate with molecular biologists and laboratory stakeholders on assay development, workflows, and genomic applications.
β’ Assess genomic and operational data quality while aiding improvements in quality, consistency, and traceability.
β’ Comprehend and document regulatory requirements for verification, validation, and compliance activities.
β’ Manage feature development, operational support, incident response, and continuous improvement within a production setting.
β’ Engage with internal users, stakeholders, and development teams.
β’ Master's degree with 3 or more years of experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Engineering, OR Ph.D., OR Bachelor's degree with 6 or more years of experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Engineering.
β’ At least 2 years of experience with short-read and long-read sequencing technologies like Illumina or PacBio.
β’ Minimum 2 years of experience with bioinformatics algorithms and genomic data analysis.
β’ 2 or more years of experience in scalable bioinformatics infrastructure and workflow orchestration using tools like Docker, Nextflow, or GitHub Actions.
β’ 2 or more years of experience with regulatory standards such as CLIA, CAP, and HIPAA relevant to clinical genomics.
β’ At least 1 year of experience in full-stack web development utilizing Django, Flask, or React.
β’ Minimum 3 years of experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.
β’ 3 or more years of experience with command-line tools and shell scripting in a UNIX/Linux environment.
β’ 2 or more years of experience with SQL and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.
β’ At least 1 year of experience with software development practices, including version control, testing, code review, and documentation.
β’ 1 or more years of experience with software production deployment practices and tools such as Docker, CI/CD, and GitHub Actions.
β’ 1 or more years of experience using AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude.
β’ At least 1 year of experience with interactive data visualization tools, such as Plotly.
β’ 1 or more years of experience with observability and monitoring platforms like Grafana, Datadog, or PagerDuty.
