Product Manager – Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the advancement of Astra’s platform layer, which encompasses APIs, developer experience, control plane, and essential infrastructure products.

• Establish the API contract philosophy, addressing versioning, backward compatibility, deprecation policies, and schema design.

• Create comprehensive, edge-case-sensitive platform specifications for engineering teams.

• Define the platform roadmap that includes foundational investments, customer-focused features, and reliability improvements.

• Conduct technical explorations with advanced customers to pinpoint platform deficiencies and extensibility requirements.

• Collaborate with the engineering team on API design, developer ergonomics, and platform quality assurance.

• Work alongside solutions and implementation teams to convert customer challenges and workarounds into platform necessities.

• Lead the developer experience roadmap, enhancing documentation, solutions engineering, and Developer Relations (DevRel).

• Represent the platform strategy in discussions with customers, partnership negotiations, and technical assessments.

• Shape the long-term platform strategy towards programmable payment infrastructure and agentic payment applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in product management.

• A minimum of 3 years developing developer-facing platform or API products within a technical infrastructure organization.

• Extensive knowledge in API design, including REST, webhooks, and event-driven architecture.

• Proven experience managing a platform roadmap across authentication, configuration, extensibility, and observability layers.

• Strong comprehension of developer experience-driven infrastructure company lock-in.

• Capability to evaluate systems-level trade-offs, such as latency versus consistency and configurability versus complexity.

• A track record as a principal-level individual contributor, providing direction and influencing without direct authority.

• Outstanding written communication skills with the ability to generate platform specifications as product documents and technical agreements.

• A keen intellectual curiosity regarding financial transactions.

• Willingness to travel up to approximately 15% annually.

• Preferred: experience in a platform role at a Banking as a Service (BaaS), payments infrastructure, or developer tools organization.

• Preferred: knowledge of control plane/data plane architecture.

• Preferred: background in workflow or rules-engine product design.

• Preferred: familiarity with agentic AI applications and payment infrastructure requirements.
