Product Manager – New Vertical, ex-founder or ex-private equity

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Select and develop Kovo's next consumer financial product vertical from the ground up.

• Prototype potential verticals in sandbox environments and validate them with real customers.

• Engage in customer discussions and conduct partner research.

• Analyze CAC payback, loss rates, margins, and unit economics.

• Provide founders with recommendations and supporting data.

• Create the smallest-footprint product version in compliance with legal requirements.

• Leverage Kovo's existing capabilities in identity, payments, credit reporting, and customer base.

• Launch the initial version, including customer flows, integrations, events, and experiments.

• Collaborate with backend engineering on ledger, money movement, and funds-related systems.

• Work together with design and frontend engineering teams.

• Introduce the product to a segment of existing customers.

• Establish the vertical's north star, roadmap, and quarterly objectives.

• Take ownership of conversion, losses, payback, and retention metrics.

• Manage the technical aspects of partner and vendor integrations.

• Design cross-selling opportunities between the new vertical and the credit builder vertical.

• Report directly to one of the founders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience as a founder, co-founder, or founding engineer with full ownership of a product; or possess private equity, growth equity, credit investing, or strategic finance experience followed by an operator role at a fintech where you developed a business line.

• Proven track record of taking a consumer product from inception to launch.

• Background in consumer fintech, including lending, payments, cash advance, banking, cards, or related fields.

• Experience working within a bank or lending partnership program.

• Comprehensive understanding of finance and unit economics.

• Capacity to prototype using functional code rather than solely presentations.

• Skill in collaborating with legal and compliance teams to design products with fewer licensing and regulatory obligations.

• Proficient in independently extracting data using SQL and product analytics.

• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced, remote environment with complete ownership and limited support.

• Extensive use of AI agents with a commitment to maintaining high standards for their output.

• Bonus: recently deployed production code using TypeScript, React, or similar technologies.
