Product Development Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the planning process for both new product launches and enhancements to current products.

• Address project challenges related to costs, timelines, resource distribution, quality/reliability, and financial budgets.

• Manage several high-visibility projects concurrently while also accommodating additional customer projects as necessary.

• Provide technical guidance across various engineering disciplines and business functions.

• Organize project activities and resolve intricate technical challenges.

• Create and execute resource management plans.

• Engage with both internal and external customers.

• Analyze bottle data through SPC and quality methodologies to steer project direction.

• Lead teams composed of members who do not report directly to this position.

• Develop and oversee project budgets ranging from approximately $50K to $1M.

• Monitor and adhere to capital and operational budgets.

• Establish policies and engineering/design principles, ensuring they are standardized within the department.

• Comprehend customer requirements and pursue product opportunities accordingly.

• Influence commercial decision-making processes.

• Collaborate across functions to enhance processes and boost employee engagement.

• Monitor project requirements, obstacles, and workloads.

• Work together with Commercial and Operations stakeholders, Corporate R&D, senior management, peers, Design, Project Management, quality assurance, purchasing/procurement, finance, clients, and vendors.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, with a preference for packaging.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience with injection and blow molding equipment, tooling, and processes.

• Extensive technical expertise in the industry, along with an understanding of industry trends and customer applications.

• Capability to manage multiple high-profile projects at once.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Proven ability to handle both internal and external customer relationships.

• Solid grasp of SPC and quality practices.

• Experience leading teams without direct reporting structures.

• Familiarity with EBM, ISBM, IBM, and IM technologies.

• Experience in plastic processing is advantageous.

• Background in tooling build is a plus.

• Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and MS Project.

• CAD experience is desirable.

• Ability to create and manage project budgets effectively.

• Competence to operate within a procedure-driven organization while also pushing beyond boundaries when necessary.

• Willingness and capability to make decisions and learn from outcomes.

• Understanding of Amcor’s strategic direction, competitive landscape, and business context.

• Ability to formulate policies and professional engineering/design principles.

• Aptitude to comprehend and anticipate customer needs.

• Openness to travel up to 50% of the time.
