Product Design Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the Principal Researcher on at least one research initiative, which includes conducting user interviews, usability tests, and surveys.

• Transform research outcomes into valuable insights that influence product decisions.

• Work alongside engineers and a product manager to design and deploy at least one feature tested live on Kiva.org.

• Create user flows and wireframes from the initial stages through to launch.

• Develop interactive prototypes using Figma.

• Evaluate concepts with users and effectively communicate designs to the team.

• Contribute at least one new component or primitive to Kiva’s design system in collaboration with design and engineering leads.

• Present work in weekly design critiques and articulate design choices to both designers and non-designers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Reside in the United States and be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent, full-time basis.

• Kiva is unable to provide visa sponsorship.

• Must be at least 21 years old by January 12, 2027.

• Must be committed to the entire 6-month term.

• Strong skills in UX writing.

• Ability to think systematically and design reusable components.

• Proficient in visual and interaction design.

• Comfortable working on macOS.

• Expertise in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.

• Capable of utilizing AI design tools such as Figma Make, Claude, and ChatGPT.

• Competent in tracking projects from handoff to completion.

• Able to meet deadlines and articulate design decisions to individuals without a design background.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain design rationale effectively.

• Open to working within an iterative, collaborative framework.

• Available for 24–32 hours per week from January 12, 2027, to June 30, 2027.
