Product Consultant – Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with product managers to establish new product initiatives and offer honest feedback.

• Provide an operator's perspective on background screening processes, encompassing manual efforts, delays, and actual costs.

• Identify compliance and workflow limitations for product design.

• Serve as an industry expert to review requirements, specifications, and prototypes.

• Clarify how screening firms and their clients assess and acquire new technology.

• Assist product managers in refining problem definitions and questioning assumptions.

• Engage in projects alongside Fama's product managers and R&D leadership.

• Deliver strategic advisory support without overseeing the roadmap, backlog, or delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in the background screening industry.

• Experience managing or owning elements of case fulfillment, review, escalation, or disputes.

• Relevant experience within a consumer reporting agency, screening technology vendor, applicant tracking system with screening integration, or a large employer's screening operation.

• Practical understanding of the regulatory environment, especially FCRA compliance along with state and local regulations.

• Structured thinking and the ability to express vital operational realities in writing.

• A grounded viewpoint on AI product design coupled with a critical approach to demonstrations.

• Current or recent experience in operations leadership, product management, or compliance at a background screening firm (strongly preferred).

• Direct oversight of a screening operations team or quality assurance (strongly preferred).

• Comprehensive knowledge of various types of screening checks (strongly preferred).

• Experience in product management (a plus).

• Involvement with PBSA or a similar industry organization (strongly preferred).

• Prior consulting or advisory experience (strongly preferred).

• Availability for 10 to 15 hours per week, with some overlap during Pacific business hours.

• Must be able to work as an independent contractor on a 1099 basis.

• Must adhere to confidentiality, non-solicitation, conflict disclosure, NDA, and intellectual property requirements.
