Process Safety Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, implement, and sustain process safety management (PSM) programs.

• Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and risk assessment activities, ensuring thorough documentation, follow-up, and resolution of action items.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and establish safety systems, procedures, and protocols.

• Conduct safety evaluations for new and existing processes, equipment, and facilities.

• Investigate incidents related to process safety, carry out root cause analyses, and formulate recommendations to prevent recurrence.

• Offer technical support and guidance to engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.

• Engage in process safety compliance audits.

• Create and deliver training programs focused on process safety.

• Monitor and analyze process safety performance metrics, reporting findings to senior management.

• Keep track of industry trends, technological innovations, and regulatory changes to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.

• Foster a culture of safety and compliance with safety protocols and regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience within a chemical manufacturing environment.

• Strong understanding of process safety management (PSM) principles, methodologies, and regulatory standards.

• Experience with process hazard analysis (PHA), HAZOP, LOPA, and various other risk assessment methods.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a capacity for critical and strategic thinking.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.

• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

• Knowledge of EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) rules and experience managing RMP programs is advantageous.

• Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional or Process Safety Professional are a plus.
