This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Act as a senior technical authority for intricate semiconductor water and wastewater treatment systems.
• Offer practical technical leadership to global process engineering teams throughout concept development, pre-contract engineering, detailed design, commissioning, and system optimization.
• Assist engineers in navigating technically demanding treatment scenarios and innovative applications.
• Lead and participate in multidisciplinary technical design evaluations.
• Aid in root-cause analysis and the resolution of complex process performance challenges.
• Provide technical assistance for vital customer discussions.
• Conduct independent QA/QC reviews of process designs, treatment trains, mass balances, hydraulic calculations, process calculations, equipment sizing, and system configurations.
• Review PFDs, P&IDs, GAs, equipment layouts, datasheets, control philosophies, utility requirements, BOMs, and associated engineering deliverables.
• Recognize technical risks and formulate mitigation strategies with project teams.
• Assess and qualify emerging technologies for semiconductor UPW, wastewater treatment, reclamation, and ZLD applications.
• Develop and uphold standardized Microelectronics Basis of Design packages and engineering content.
• Contribute to the automation of Microelectronics engineering design and translate engineering methodologies into automated workflows.
• Evaluate designs from a total lifecycle standpoint, enhancing water recovery, energy efficiency, chemical efficiency, reliability, maintainability, and operating costs.
• Collaborate with global engineering, Technology, Applications Engineering, Operations, Commissioning, Supply Chain, and project teams.
• Mentor and technically nurture process engineers throughout the global organization.
• Facilitate technical workshops and design evaluations.
• Document lessons learned and develop systemic engineering enhancements.
• Support engineering quality metrics and KPIs.
• Stay informed about semiconductor manufacturing trends and their effects on treatment requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Over 10 years of progressively responsible experience in designing semiconductor water and wastewater treatment systems.
• Significant hands-on process engineering experience in support of semiconductor or advanced microelectronics facilities.
• Proven technical expertise in UPW, industrial/semiconductor wastewater treatment, water reclamation/reuse, ZLD, membrane treatment, ion exchange/polishing, advanced oxidation, and/or chemical treatment and solids separation.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and reviewing intricate process flowsheets.
• Strong working knowledge of PFDs, P&IDs, process calculations, equipment sizing, equipment specifications, layouts, datasheets, BOMs, and engineering cost development.
• Proven ability to independently assess and challenge complex engineering designs.
• Comprehensive understanding of equipment efficiency, OPEX impacts, system reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle costs.
• Experience in evaluating and implementing new treatment technologies.
• Ability to effectively collaborate across globally and culturally diverse engineering teams.
• Demonstrated capability and eagerness to mentor and technically develop fellow engineers.
• Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
• PE registration or an advanced engineering degree is preferred.
• Experience in EPC/EPCM projects is preferred.
• Semiconductor owner/operator experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with equipment fabrication and vendor engineering is preferred.
• Experience in field startup, commissioning, qualification, and troubleshooting is preferred.
• Experience in developing engineering standards, design libraries, or standardized treatment platforms is preferred.
• Proficiency in process modeling, digital engineering, configuration tools, or engineering design automation is preferred.
• Experience in evaluating technologies from both CAPEX and lifecycle OPEX perspectives is preferred.
• Global engineering or project experience is preferred.
• Experience working directly with semiconductor customers and technology suppliers is preferred.
• Interest in and willingness to pursue future leadership development and broader organizational responsibilities is a plus.
