This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Lead the development cycle for molding and manufacturing programs.
• Assess processes for durability, precision, and enhancement.
• Launch projects aimed at improvement.
• Offer quality and metrology assistance for KPIs/KPOs that affect part quality and process management.
• Collaborate with GTS/site tooling engineers and tool engineers regarding design and development needs.
• Aid business development by marketing tooling solutions and addressing processing challenges.
• Assist with corrective actions, re-validations, and the optimization of tools/processes.
• Supervise process development through IQ and OQ runs, and document findings.
• Implement scientific molding techniques utilizing Decoupled 2 and Decoupled 3 principles.
• Oversee cavity pressure monitoring and control following RJG principles.
• Engage in technical reviews with customers and mold shops.
• Contribute to DFM and tool design evaluations.
• Facilitate molding cell development and execution.
• Assist in the design and fabrication of EOAT.
• Manage mold shop deliverables and expectations, including SIM reports.
• Verify receiving-site requirements and perform machine capability assessments.
• Develop processes and analyze Moldflow data for startup and troubleshooting.
• Travel to customer sites, tool shops, and Viant facilities; submit trip reports.
• Prepare, monitor, and communicate process DOEs, outcomes, and suggestions.
• Handle a minimum of 20 simultaneous projects.
• Act as a technical liaison between Viant, customers, tool shops, and internal teams.
• Support NPI, sustaining engineering, and business development projects.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and achieve top-tier production results.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a related plastics field, a 4-year engineering degree, or equivalent completion of a 4,000 hour or 2-year process engineering apprenticeship.
• Certification from an advanced molding school or RJG Master Molder 2 (or equivalent).
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Over 10 years of experience in processing within a molding environment, including process development, qualification, and validation of molds.
• Deep understanding of processing and process development techniques in scientific molding principles (MM2 skill level).
• Knowledge of plastics injection molding; LSR experience preferred.
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and general computer applications.
• Experience with SolidWorks drawings.
• Familiarity with 3D printing/3D software preferred.
• Basic knowledge of FDA, QSR, and ISO 13485 medical device regulations and standards.
• Understanding of statistics and Cp & Cpk studies for processes.
• Knowledge of I.Q., O.Q., and P.Q. requirements.
• Strong grasp of DOE methods and their implementation.
• Expert knowledge of cavity pressure technologies and advanced control principles.
• Familiarity with engineering-grade thermoplastic resins and Mold Flow analysis.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% to Viant sites in the U.S., Costa Rica, Tijuana, and Vega Baja, Puerto Rico.
