
Principal Software Engineer β Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Enhance platform quality by implementing testing and regression gates, progressive delivery, rapid rollback, supply-chain and policy evaluations, along with transparent and accountable costs.
β’ Manage the platform as a curated internal product by identifying team bottlenecks, prioritizing functionalities, publishing the roadmap, and assessing adoption, delivery speed, stability, and developer satisfaction.
β’ Develop self-service APIs, templates, and optimal paths for CI/CD, environments, and observability.
β’ Lead migration efforts by monitoring usage, automating processes, completing final implementation tasks, and phasing out legacy systems.
β’ Oversee platform stakeholders and guide teams toward standardized platform methodologies.
β’ Establish technical direction and advance the platform's evolution.
β’ Mentor Senior Engineers through design collaboration and review processes.
β’ Cover Arcadia's petabyte-scale lakehouse and client-facing applications based on Kubernetes.
β’ Report directly to the Vice President of Engineering.
β’ Proven experience in software engineering with a focus on clean abstractions and APIs.
β’ In-depth knowledge of systems engineering in cloud environments, Kubernetes, networking, and infrastructure as code (IaC).
β’ Experience in owning Service Level Objectives (SLOs), observability, on-call duties, and incident management.
β’ Strong customer empathy with the ability to recognize authentic user requirements.
β’ Demonstrated success in delivering extensive, long-term projects to completion.
β’ A clear philosophy on structuring infrastructure and delivery to ensure security, speed, and reliability.
β’ Up-to-date, hands-on production coding experience.
β’ Capability to research, prototype, and deliver practical solutions.
β’ Motivation to minimize operational toil through software solutions.
β’ Ability to initiate and execute work across the organization.
β’ No healthcare experience is necessary.
β’ Preferred experience with regulated data environments such as HIPAA, PHI, SOC 2, or HITRUST.
β’ Preferred background in public speaking, writing, or open-source contributions.
β’ Preferred experience in transforming an infrastructure or DevOps team into a product-oriented platform team.
β’ Preferred experience in establishing scalable platform support, including support tiers, office hours, documentation, and developer advocacy.
β’ Preferred experience in making cloud and CI expenses transparent and actionable.
