Principal Software Engineer, Backend – Go

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kazakhstan, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design and develop Go microservices for the multi-tenant k0rdent AI platform.

• Create database schemas and manage migrations.

• Design and execute reliable orchestration using Temporal, ensuring idempotency, retries, timeouts, and determinism constraints.

• Develop public REST APIs utilizing OpenAPI and multi-language SDKs.

• Establish event-driven, asynchronous communication between services on streaming or message-broker platforms.

• Implement authentication and authorization measures across an enterprise IAM platform and API gateway.

• Enhance the identity model with SCIM user and group lifecycle provisioning.

• Standardize platform API permissions using Kubernetes-native RBAC.

• Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for every modification.

• Monitor production services with structured logging, metrics, and audit trails.

• Package and deploy services using Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes.

• Conduct code reviews and troubleshoot incidents to identify root causes with regression coverage.

• Mentor junior engineers through onboarding, design support, and review feedback.

• Take ownership of features from start to finish, including API contracts, services, schemas, orchestration, tests, and Helm packaging.

• Collaborate with engineering teams across the US, Europe, and India.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 5 years focused on building production backend services using Go.

• Strong foundational knowledge of Go: concurrency, context propagation, error wrapping, and stdlib HTTP routing (Go 1.22+).

• Extensive experience with relational databases: schema design, migrations, transactions, and query optimization under multi-tenant conditions.

• Proven ability in designing versioned REST APIs for external client use, along with generating SDKs.

• Experience in developing durable or event-driven asynchronous systems with idempotency and retry mechanisms.

• Solid understanding of OIDC, JWT validation, RBAC modeling, and multi-tenant isolation within an IAM platform and API gateway.

• Practical knowledge of Kubernetes, including deployment, inspection, debugging, and Kubernetes RBAC.

• Discipline in unit and integration testing.

• Experience with Git-based workflows, rigorous code reviews, and CI/CD (GitHub Actions or equivalent).

• Background in mentoring engineers and leading design discussions.

• Proficient in written English for creating asynchronous design documents and conducting reviews across different time zones.

• Must have experience with Temporal in a production environment.

• Familiarity with developing multi-tenant SaaS or PaaS platforms.

• Knowledge of Cluster API, Kubernetes controllers, or operators.

• Experience with Keycloak: realms, clients, identity providers, and token flows.

• Understanding of API gateway operations: routing, plugins, and rate limiting.

• Experience with PostgreSQL at scale, including migration toolchains.

• Familiarity with Docker and Helm-packaged services running on Kubernetes.

• Experience with streaming or message-broker platforms.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering or a related field, or 10 years of relevant experience.
