Principal Software Engineer

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with product teams across Foundant’s portfolio to design and implement effective solutions.

• Tackle challenging engineering problems and deliver functioning production code.

• Take ownership of architectural decisions at both the application and service levels.

• Supervise modifications to shared services and their ongoing maintenance in production.

• Identify and address systemic and architectural challenges across component and service boundaries.

• Lead the design of solutions for major initiatives.

• Direct small teams of engineers through intricate initiatives with clear guidance.

• Establish standards for efficient AI-assisted development practices at Foundant.

• Navigate across products, domains, and service boundaries to enhance team capabilities.

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Extensive experience in a principal, staff, or similar senior individual contributor role.

• Mastery of architectural patterns with the judgment to apply them effectively at both application and service levels.

• Profound expertise in one or two technologies within the stack, with the capability to quickly adapt to others.

• Technology stack includes Java, C#, TypeScript, Node.js, React, Python, and Flutter.

• Experience in managing production services, focusing on reliability, performance, and incident response.

• Professional experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools in production environments.

• Familiarity with Claude Code or a similar AI-assisted development tool.

• Proven track record in diagnosing complex issues that span multiple components, services, or teams.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada.
