Principal Robotics Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical leadership and a visionary architecture for Blue River Technology's Robotics Team.

• Oversee the design, development, and implementation of intricate software systems for autonomous platforms.

• Collaborate with Deere engineering teams to enhance vehicle safety behaviors, manage vehicle controls, and extract valuable data signals.

• Propel the technical vision and software architecture across long-term robotics projects.

• Establish design methodologies and engineering best practices.

• Design, architect, and sustain high-performance, fault-tolerant robotics software systems.

• Collaborate with teams in Robotics, Perception, Machine Learning, Hardware, Systems Engineering, and Product.

• Specify software requirements, hardware-software interfaces, and system-level validation strategies.

• Advocate for coding standards, automated testing, continuous integration, and real-world deployment protocols.

• Mentor and guide senior, mid-level, and junior engineers in design reviews, clean coding practices, and system troubleshooting.

• Keep abreast of trends in robotics, AI/ML, dynamic controls, and real-time computing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience, including a minimum of 4 years in a Principal or Staff-level role within robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or heavy machinery automation.

• Advanced proficiency in modern C++ and Python within Linux-based development environments.

• Extensive hands-on experience with robotics frameworks such as ROS/ROS 2 or CyberRT.

• Expertise in motion planning, kinematics, trajectory generation, localization, perception, or control theory.

• Experience with multi-threaded C++ applications and basic Inter-Process Communication (IPC).

• Proficient in writing software that interfaces with physical hardware or sensors such as LIDAR, cameras, IMUs, or GPS.

• Capable of navigating high-level system architecture and troubleshooting complex hardware-software integration cases.

• Ability to balance long-term architectural integrity with immediate shipping timelines.

• Skilled in fostering alignment across multidisciplinary engineering, product, and leadership teams.

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
