
Principal Product Manager, Fabric Ethernet – Metro Connect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Establish the three-year vision and quarterly roadmap for Fabric EPL/EVPL virtual connections, port and LAG architectures, service tokens, and Equinix Fabric Metro Connect.
• Spearhead the strategic integration of Fabric virtual connections with packet-based Metro Connect.
• Propel Ethernet services toward increased speeds, expanded metro availability, and a wider variety of service options.
• Develop the roadmap for MACsec, QoS, and resiliency in collaboration with engineering and network architecture teams.
• Take ownership of Fabric Ethernet and Fabric Metro Connect P&L, encompassing revenue, attach rate, margin, and competitive pricing strategies.
• Construct and advocate for investment proposals related to capacity expansion, metro launches, and new service types.
• Collaborate with Finance and Sales to analyze willingness-to-pay, segment economics, and pricing structures.
• Monitor and report on product KPIs, including port utilization, growth of virtual connections, bandwidth per connection, and customer retention rates.
• Write engineering-ready Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) for Ethernet service capabilities.
• Act as the internal expert on carrier Ethernet standards.
• Work alongside network architecture on PE node topology, port provisioning, and the binding of physical to virtual services.
• Define the OpenAPI surface for Ethernet services.
• Engage in discovery processes with enterprise network architects, cloud on-ramp teams, and carrier customers.
• Conduct competitive analysis of carrier Ethernet competitors and related NaaS providers.
• Collaborate with Sales Engineering and Solutions Architecture on key strategic deals.
• Represent the Ethernet portfolio at customer advisory boards, industry forums, and external events.
• Over 7 years of experience in product management.
• Significant ownership experience with products related to cloud infrastructure, networking, digital platforms, or carrier connectivity.
• Extensive knowledge of carrier Ethernet technologies: EPL, EVPL, E-LAN, 802.1Q/QinQ, MEF standards, Layer 2 forwarding, and VLAN architectures.
• Practical understanding of enterprise and cloud WAN architecture, including DCI, SD-WAN overlays, BGP, and cloud on-ramp connectivity solutions.
• Proven experience managing P&L or product line financials, including pricing strategies, margin analysis, and investment modeling.
• Proficiency in writing engineering-grade product specifications.
• Capability to navigate both intricate technical details and high-level business narratives suitable for C-suite discussions.
• Experience with a NaaS provider, cloud provider, IXP, or carrier, particularly with direct data center or colocation interconnect products.
• Familiarity with Equinix Fabric, AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, or Google Cloud Interconnect product functionalities.
• Exposure to MEF 3.0 certification frameworks and carrier Ethernet OAM (802.3ah, Y.1731).
• Experience with REST/OpenAPI product design for network provisioning platforms.
