Principal, Procurement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and enhance Monarch’s comprehensive procurement process across the organization.

• Manage the Zip procurement-orchestration system effectively.

• Spearhead strategic sourcing and negotiations with material suppliers.

• Leverage market intelligence, usage analytics, and business context to optimize pricing, terms, commitments, and overall value.

• Establish a proactive vendor management program that addresses contracts, spending, ownership, renewals, utilization, performance, and consolidation opportunities.

• Collaborate with Finance, Engineering, and business leaders on expenditures related to SaaS, cloud, data, AI, and technology.

• Promote adoption through policies, self-service resources, and comprehensive employee education.

• Utilize AI and automation to enhance the speed and proactivity of procurement processes.

• Work together with Finance, Engineering, Legal, Security, IT, People, and business leaders.

• Assist Monarch in making informed purchasing decisions and enhancing vendor economics.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor management, or technology spend management.

• Proven personal accountability for material negotiations.

• Experience in owning and refining procurement processes within a rapidly growing technology organization.

• Practical experience in administering a procurement-orchestration or similar workflow platform.

• Proficient in configuring intake processes, conditional logic, approval routing, permissions, and reporting functionalities.

• Background in sourcing and negotiating technology expenditures, including SaaS, cloud infrastructure, data, AI, or consumption-based vendor models.

• Experience in managing cloud or usage-based technology expenditures alongside Finance and Engineering teams.

• Strong commercial insight and analytical skills.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• A proactive, hands-on approach with the capability to handle multiple priorities.

• Demonstrated fluency in AI and regular application of AI tools in professional tasks.

• Capability to redesign procurement workflows leveraging AI and automation.

• Familiarity with AWS and Google Cloud cost structures, committed-use agreements, cloud cost allocation, or cloud-cost-management tools is a plus.

• Experience in procuring AI models, APIs, financial-data infrastructure, or high-volume usage-based services is advantageous.

• Background in fintech, consumer subscriptions, financial services, or regulated technology is desirable.

• Awareness of security, privacy, legal, and third-party risk review processes is beneficial.
