Principal Linux Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Deliver continuous systems administration support for Linux environments across various locations.

• Install, manage, and troubleshoot hardware, software, applications, and connectivity components.

• Offer technical support and guidance on programming tools, database systems, and networks.

• Address daily incident tickets and ensure compliance with system standards.

• Improve system operations, testing, staging, and policies/procedures.

• Liaise with clients and provide operational recommendations focused on Linux system availability and reliability.

• Take a leading role in developing the Linux systems strategy throughout the organization.

• Distribute work assignments, maintain workload balance, and offer technical and procedural support to junior team members.

• Align systems design and strategy with corporate business goals and objectives.

• Initiate and implement automation and process intelligence tools to support data-driven decision-making, efficiency, and AI integration.

• Utilize business and user-community insights to inform systems design, development, and support.

• Convert long-term business needs into systems and infrastructure designs.

• Contribute to the design, development, and upkeep of systems administration infrastructure, including operating systems, virtualization platforms, cloud infrastructure, directory and identity services, monitoring and management, middleware, and applications.

• Provide leadership for infrastructure support concerning hardware and software systems.

• Consult and advise across the company on unique, complex, or business-critical issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and residency are mandatory.

• BA/BS degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A Master's degree is preferred.

• Expert-level proficiency in Linux systems administration and enterprise infrastructure design.

• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and provide advice on complex, business-critical issues throughout the organization.

• Experience with Red Hat Linux, including KVM and clustering technologies.

• Familiarity with AIX.

• Knowledge of Unix.

• Acquainted with VMware.

• Required understanding of disaster recovery (DR) and high-availability (HA) principles, particularly in cloud environments such as Oracle OCI and Microsoft Azure.
