Principal Engineer – Substation Owner's Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Deliver senior-level technical guidance and engineering knowledge for substation and transmission initiatives.

• Independently plan, carry out, and manage intricate engineering tasks.

• Assess, modify, and create engineering solutions to address technical challenges.

• Mentor and oversee junior engineers and technical personnel.

• Ensure adherence to design codes, building regulations, OSHA, FERC, NERC, and CIP standards.

• Assist in conducting cost-benefit analyses and evaluating alternative engineering strategies.

• Create technical specifications for services, equipment, and materials.

• Collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal project teams.

• Review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and design outputs.

• Aid in bid assessments, contract evaluations, and award recommendations.

• Compile technical reports and engineering documentation for executive and public scrutiny.

• Provide expert technical testimony and support as necessary.

• Analyze and resolve intricate technical issues.

• Suggest innovative, practical, and cost-efficient solutions throughout project implementation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Over 5 years of experience in substation engineering at voltages of 345 kV and higher.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York or the capability to acquire it within 6 months.

• In-depth knowledge of utility substation design, equipment, protection and control, metering, and SCADA systems.

• Experience in supporting projects from inception through construction and closeout phases.

• Exceptional technical, communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Proficient in using industry-standard engineering software.
