Principal Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish and take responsibility for the technical architecture and strategy for client projects involving backend, frontend, and cloud infrastructure.

• Provide guidance on scalable backend services, APIs, integrations, and contemporary frontend architecture.

• Develop code, create prototypes, and assist teams in overcoming intricate technical challenges.

• Set engineering standards and oversee architecture, design, and code reviews.

• Formulate best practices for AI-assisted development, agentic frameworks, and LLM integration.

• Assess, pilot, and expand AI tools and agentic workflows across various teams.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership on roadmaps, backlogs, and delivery strategies.

• Mentor teams on breaking down initiatives and guide estimation, staffing, and risk evaluation.

• Advocate for retrospectives and ongoing improvement within teams.

• Act as a technical authority for delivery teams or specific accounts.

• Provide mentorship to Lead and Senior Engineers.

• Drive technical due diligence, feasibility studies, solution architecture, recruitment, and technical interviews.

• Counsel client executives on technology and AI strategies.

• Lead technical discovery, solution development, pre-sales discussions, and executive presentations.

• Establish engineering standards concerning quality, testing, security, performance, and AI-enabled development.

• Create reusable frameworks, accelerators, and shared components.

• Represent Stride through thought leadership and translate emerging trends in full-stack, cloud-native, and AI into actionable guidance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional experience as a Full-Stack, Backend, or Software Engineer, including substantial senior, lead, or architect-level roles.

• Proven experience in owning technical architecture and direction across multiple teams, products, or projects.

• In-depth expertise in building scalable backend services and APIs using Java, Python, Ruby, Go, or similar technologies.

• Strong proficiency in developing modern frontend applications with React and/or NextJS.

• Extensive experience with relational and NoSQL databases, distributed systems, and scalable resilient architectures.

• Demonstrated experience in leading Test Driven Development, Pair Programming, and engineering best practices.

• Significant experience in shaping Agile delivery environments using Scrum or Kanban at the account or program level.

• Exceptional communication skills and executive presence, including the ability to advise CTO- or VP-level client leadership.

• Practical experience with agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar.

• Capability to evaluate, pilot, and facilitate the adoption of AI-assisted development tools and contemporary developer workflows.

• Experience in integrating AI capabilities or LLM APIs into production applications.

• Background in mentoring and developing senior and lead-level engineers.

• U.S. work authorization is required; candidates must disclose whether they need employment visa sponsorship.

• Experience with production LLM systems, MCP, RAG, vector databases, event-driven or microservices architectures, consulting, pre-sales, thought leadership, or engineering-practice development is a plus.
