This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Report to a Senior Engineer in the Stations division
• Design electrical components, equipment, and systems from initial project conception through to completion
• Develop detailed engineering scope documents derived from high-level functional specifications
• Design electrical substation infrastructures, encompassing site and buswork layouts, grounding, foundations, controls, protection, metering, and equipment drawings
• Complete substation design packages, which include schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials
• Deliver designs that adhere to industry standards, utility design guidelines, and engineering best practices
• Ensure that designs are compatible with sound construction practices and thorough due diligence
• Identify necessary materials and, when applicable, specify devices and equipment for design and construction
• Plan layouts for electrical facilities across the Transmission and Distribution, Power Generation, and Renewables sectors
• Apply relevant legislation, standards, regulations, guidelines, and practices, including CSA, ANSI, IEC, and IEEE standards
• Design electrical facilities for the Transmission and Distribution, Power Generation, Industrial, and Renewables sectors
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is mandatory; or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution
• 2 to 8 years of experience in the Utilities sector is preferred, though not mandatory
• Candidates with prior engineering experience in electrical facilities for Transmission and Distribution, Power Generation, Industrial, and Renewables sectors will be given preference
• Preference will also be given to candidates with experience in construction and field installations
• Experience in construction and field installations is considered an asset
• Proficient in medium/high voltage power engineering for electrical facilities in the Transmission and Distribution, Power Generation, Industrial, and Renewables sectors
• Strong capability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
• Eligible for registration with APEGGA or ASET
• A dedicated team player with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• Proven problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work within tight deadlines
• Proficient in utilizing computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to execute engineering tasks
