This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Evaluate designs, technical specifications, and drawings related to civil and geotechnical elements of dams, hydropower initiatives, levees, and flood control systems.

• Create resource plans, proposals, bid schedules, and cost estimates for projects involving dams and water infrastructure.

• Analyze and prepare technical reports and evaluation memoranda to meet regulatory standards.

• Conduct site visits and inspections of dams; manage data gathering, compilation, and analysis.

• Execute interdisciplinary technical reviews considering technical approaches, best practices, client requirements, and constructability.

• Provide oversight during construction phases to ensure alignment with engineering plans and specifications.

• Address construction-related challenges by assessing issues and evaluating proposed solutions.

• Supervise field explorations and laboratory assessments of soil and rock materials.

• Direct dam analysis and design teams, focusing on seismic stability and seepage assessments.

• Lead field quality assurance efforts for dam and hydropower construction projects; evaluate contractor submissions and requests for information.

• Collaborate with internal technical specialists on business development strategies and advocate for dam and hydropower expertise.

• Identify and seek out new clients and projects.

• Assist senior management with business strategies for dams and hydropower initiatives.

• Domestic travel may be required up to 15%.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Mining, Geoscience, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, along with 10 years of experience as a Dam Engineer, Geotechnical Engineer, Geotechnical Team Lead, or a comparable role; alternatively, a Master's degree in one of these fields and 8 years of experience is acceptable.

• Proven experience in the design and construction of dams and hydropower projects.

• Familiarity with dam safety evaluations, codes, and regulations.

• Experience in engineering during construction phases, resident engineering, and quality assurance and control.

• Competence in reviewing plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports for dams and hydropower projects.

• Ability to provide technical support to Dams Project Managers, encompassing design, analysis, inspection, and regulatory compliance activities.

• Experience in conducting geo-hazard assessments and technical reviews.

• Proven track record in project management support, including client relations, contract oversight, planning and execution, and financial management.

• Experience in overseeing slope stability and seepage evaluations and designing slope stabilization solutions for dams, spillways, and levees.

• Capability to identify and pursue new clients and opportunities with existing clients.

• Experience in supervising and mentoring staff in geotechnical investigations, analyses, reporting, and construction oversight.

• Up to 15% domestic travel is required.

• Telecommuting is allowed from any location within the US.
