Principal Business Intelligence Manager

📋 Description

• Conduct in-depth analysis of both Zillow's internal and third-party data to model customer journeys, operational workflows, workforce structures, financial metrics, and product signals that shape customer experience operations.

• Establish the target-state architecture for the data foundation, outlining how data domains, source systems, grains, identities, taxonomy, and semantic logic integrate from raw signals to BI, analytics, data science, and AI usage.

• Create reusable patterns for semantic-layer and metrics-as-code.

• Foster consensus on metric definitions, taxonomy standards, expectations for source-of-truth, data-product certification, and cross-system identity strategies among different business lines, partner teams, and leadership.

• Spearhead cross-organizational data initiatives aligned with company strategy, customer experience priorities, AI enablement, and long-term roadmap planning.

• Define quality, monitoring, documentation, and reliability standards for essential data products and reporting surfaces.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in data architecture, enterprise data modeling, analytics engineering, or leadership in business intelligence data products.

• Proficient in SQL and data modeling.

• Extensive knowledge in semantic-layer design, metrics-as-code patterns, metric-definition governance, reusable dimensional modeling, and organizational-scale data governance.

• Strong understanding of how AI systems, natural language query experiences, and machine learning workflows utilize structured, governed data.

• Proven experience in shaping or owning taxonomy, source-of-truth, identity resolution, or semantic governance standards among diverse stakeholders and business lines.

• Background in evaluating, adopting, or influencing analytics-engineering tools at the organizational level, including Databricks, dbt, Snowflake, semantic-layer platforms, or Tableau.

• Exceptional communication and partner management skills.
