Practice Director – Post Quantum Cryptography

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish and lead GuidePoint’s Post-Quantum Cryptography advisory practice from inception.

• Define service offerings, delivery methodologies, and market entry strategies.

• Develop and implement growth strategies for PQC services, including assessments of cryptographic inventories, migration roadmaps, crypto-agility consulting, and quantum risk quantification.

• Oversee the practice’s profit and loss, ensuring revenue, utilization, and margin targets are met.

• Recruit, mentor, and cultivate PQC consultants and cryptographic engineers.

• Align the PQC practice with GuidePoint’s broader Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) mission and service ecosystem.

• Foster collaboration among geographically diverse teams and regional leadership.

• Lead strategic sales initiatives through conference presentations, thought leadership, proposals, podcasts, and executive relationship management.

• Create and enhance PQC-specific sales, marketing, and delivery materials.

• Define and approve engagement scopes, work breakdown structures, estimates, and delivery timelines.

• Collaborate with CISOs, CTOs, CIOs, and enterprise security architects to evaluate cryptographic positions and develop strategies for quantum readiness.

• Supervise PQC readiness assessments, analysis of cryptographic inventories, and migration roadmaps in alignment with NIST standards, CNSA 2.0, and crypto-agility frameworks.

• Conduct evaluations of cryptographic dependencies across TLS/SSL, PKI, code signing, key management, HSMs, and data-at-rest encryption.

• Ensure advisory projects yield measurable outcomes, reduce quantum risk exposure, and establish remediation timelines.

• Lead pre-sales and business development efforts, including executive workshops, statement of work (SOW) scoping, and technical presentations.

• Engage with client executive teams and boards, translating cryptographic concepts into business risk language.

• Implement cryptographic transformation programs in conjunction with peer practices, including compliance, risk management, and cloud security.

• Build customer relationships while gaining insights into business environments, regulatory requirements, and cryptographic dependencies.

• Mentor teams and advocate for continuous professional development and technical excellence.

• Advance service offerings, create new ones, and guide team members in PQC methodologies.

• Author technical and business documentation for technical, managerial, and executive audiences.

• Assemble a high-performing team with cryptographic expertise.

• Collaborate with transformation, enablement, operations, and marketing teams.

• Represent GuidePoint at executive briefings, RSA, Black Hat, NIST workshops, and cybersecurity summits.

• Contribute to PQC methodologies, assessment frameworks, and migration toolkits.

• Publish and present insights on PQC, cryptographic migration, quantum risk, and crypto-agility.

• Keep abreast of NIST standardization, NSA/CNSA 2.0 timelines, and developments in quantum computing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of experience in cybersecurity, with significant expertise in applied cryptography, public key infrastructure (PKI), and/or cryptographic engineering.

• Proven experience leading advisory teams or initiatives focused on cryptographic transformation.

• Strong understanding of NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography standards and algorithms: ML-KEM/Kyber, ML-DSA/Dilithium, SLH-DSA/SPHINCS+, FN-DSA/Falcon.

• Familiarity with NSA CNSA 2.0 transition timelines, FIPS 203/204/205, and federal mandates for quantum readiness, such as NSM-10 and OMB M-23-02.

• Experience engaging with Board members, CXOs, and CISOs on technical and strategic cybersecurity issues.

• Demonstrated capability to design and implement cryptographic migration programs or enterprise-wide technology transformation initiatives.

• Strong executive presence and credibility with senior business and technical decision-makers.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex cryptographic concepts into business risk terms.

• Strategic thinker with the ability to convert vision into actionable plans and measurable results.

• Willingness to embrace emerging technologies, including AI tools.

• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

• Preferred: prior roles as a CISO, Deputy CISO, Chief Cryptographer, or senior cybersecurity executive advisor.

• Preferred: certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCISO, or specialized credentials in cryptography.

• Preferred: an MBA or MS in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a comparable advanced degree.

• Preferred: hands-on experience with cryptographic libraries, HSM management, and key management systems.

• Preferred: experience with crypto risk quantification, cryptographic inventory tools, or crypto-agility platforms.

• Preferred: knowledge of FIPS 140-3 validation processes and cryptographic module testing.

• Preferred: background in quantum computing principles, QKD, or quantum-safe network architectures.

• Sedentary work requiring significant wrist, hand, and/or finger movement for a minimum of 8 hours daily.

• Close visual acuity necessary for computer terminal usage and/or extensive reading for a minimum of 8 hours daily.
