PowerBuilder Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create new application solutions, enhance existing applications, and ensure ongoing support for current applications.

• Evaluate and design application architecture.

• Design, develop, and sustain the assigned departmental applications portfolio in accordance with documented business needs.

• Oversee and ensure quality assurance within a team of developers.

• Provide detailed effort estimates for the software development life cycle.

• Evaluate service requests for legitimacy and suggest appropriate solutions.

• Collaborate with Architects to confirm suitable solutions and technologies.

• Establish development requirements and assist with the integration of third-party tools and applications.

• Engage in quality assurance tasks, including design and code reviews.

• Review system and integration testing processes.

• Develop application code, architecture, specifications, and technical interfaces.

• Test and sustain both functional and non-functional components of systems.

• Investigate data integrity challenges and propose and execute solutions.

• Introduce additions and enhancements to existing applications.

• Deliver application support for current systems.

• Take part in problem resolution efforts.

• Document application code, system setup, software maintenance, and administrative workflows.

• Contribute to technical and operational manuals, transition and deployment documents, and change requests.

• Execute other software developer responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least six (6) years of experience in developing new application solutions, maintaining current applications, and providing ongoing production support.

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a PowerBuilder Developer.

• At least three (3) years of experience in the design, development, and analysis of relational databases, including the creation of stored procedures.

• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in maintaining and enhancing existing legacy applications.

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Team Foundation Server).

• Operational experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including database creation and administration.

• Capacity to exercise discretion and maintain high attention to detail concerning security while working with sensitive data.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting; verbal, written, and presentation skills are essential.

• Extensive understanding of data processing, n-tier technology platforms, and software applications within an enterprise context.

• Proven knowledge of systems networking, information security, relational databases, and web services design standards.

• Experience in developing and implementing standards, procedures, and guidelines to bolster operational processes.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Outstanding listening skills.

• Preferred: experience with programming in .NET.

• Preferred: familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI.

• Preferred: experience working with databases and related tools in Microsoft Azure.

• Preferred: experience converting Sybase to SQL Server.

• Preferred: knowledge of additional programming languages.

• Preferred: understanding of web development technologies.

• Preferred: knowledge of cloud-based services (e.g., AWS, Azure).

• Preferred: comprehension of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.

• Preferred: strong experience in SQL development.
