This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Produce content on intricate policy issues in a neutral, clear, and succinct way
• Conduct research on policy areas to establish expertise in content
• Draft and revise articles focusing on court rulings, legislation, executive actions, key terminology, influential figures, and academic research
• Gather and organize arguments for and against suggested policy modifications
• Collect and organize proposed policy reforms
• Monitor news events and significant developments to ensure timely coverage
• Review academic literature and integrate pertinent findings into content
• Craft engaging story features and impactful headlines
• Facilitate and lead webinars while preparing presentations
• Contribute ideas and create content for regular newsletters
• Develop educational outreach initiatives, including Learning Journeys and Learning Expeditions
• Proofread content accurately, efficiently, and consistently
• Analyze court rulings and monitor legislation nationwide to identify policy patterns
• Engage in ongoing team book clubs
• Travel and attend relevant events as necessary
• Maintain professional interactions with donors, stakeholders, media representatives, clients, and external collaborators
• Utilize procedure checklists, templates, spreadsheets, Google Workspace, Slack, and Asana
• Learn and implement Ballotpedia’s taxonomy of bias and Style Guide
• Innovate to enhance processes and improve content quality
• Full-time position, fully remote
• Understanding of the United States political landscape
• Personal interest in U.S. policy matters
• Professional background in federal or state legislative coverage is a plus
• Preferred familiarity with the administrative state, federal rulemaking, and/or public assistance programs like SNAP or Medicaid
• Interest in or experience with AI tools to boost productivity
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues across various departments
• Comfort in seeking and providing feedback
• Proactive problem identification and resolution skills
• Competence in conducting effective research and sourcing the best information
• Skill in using and mastering complex tools such as templates and spreadsheets
• Access to a computer with internet connectivity
• Some familiarity with Google Workspace, Slack, and Asana is advantageous
