This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Create content for various platforms including web, mobile, and print.
• Generate daily story ideas and adapt to evolving newsroom priorities.
• Utilize social media and digital tools to uncover breaking news and gauge reader interests.
• Build relationships with sources to break stories and influence the news agenda.
• Partner with digital teams to develop interactive multimedia content such as text, photos, and videos.
• Cover a diverse array of news and topics while adhering to tight deadlines.
• Be available to work on weekends and statutory holidays as required.
• Report for the Times & Transcript for a duration of up to 22 weeks.
• Must be an experienced reporter, a journalism school graduate, or a candidate from a related field.
• Proven ability to work efficiently in breaking news, features, short form, and non-traditional story formats.
• Capable of quickly prioritizing newsroom tasks and meeting stringent deadlines.
• Proficient in using digital tools to break and develop stories and concepts.
• Experience and expertise in video, podcast presentation, and other digital tools are advantageous.
• A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are considered assets.
• Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Applicants should submit a cover letter, résumé, three published work samples (if available), and at least two signed references.
