Pilot Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete project management of VA healthcare pilot and innovation initiatives, which includes defining scope, planning work, tracking milestones, managing risks, and coordinating stakeholders throughout the program lifecycle.

• Create, uphold, and present performance reports and program dashboards specifically designed for Senior Executive Service (SES) review.

• Assist in the preparation of Congressional reporting packages, briefing materials, and responses to data inquiries.

• Organize and facilitate cross-functional working groups and meetings for pilot site coordination, documenting action items, decisions, and risks while promoting accountability among stakeholders.

• Track and assess pilot program performance metrics against established success criteria.

• Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for course corrections or recommendations for scaling up efforts.

• Keep project documentation up to date, including charters, schedules, risk registers, lessons-learned logs, and after-action reports, in compliance with federal contracting and VA documentation standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in project management.

• Proven experience managing healthcare pilot programs, innovation initiatives, or other complex multi-stakeholder engagements.

• A Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Public Health, Health Administration, Business Administration, Public Policy, or a related field is required.

• Prior experience supporting federal agency clients, VA program offices, or working within federal healthcare environments is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with the VA's organizational structure and mission is greatly desirable.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential and successfully pass a VA background check.

• An active clearance or previous federal suitability determination is an advantage.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

• Demonstrated experience in developing performance reports, briefing materials, or data packages for senior government leaders (SES-level or equivalent) and/or Congressional stakeholders.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is strongly preferred.

• Experience with VA or federal health innovation offices (such as VHA Innovation Ecosystem, CMMI, CMTO, or similar) is a significant advantage.

• Familiarity with federal performance management frameworks like GPRAMA, OMB reporting requirements, or VA MISSION Act implementation.

• Experience utilizing VA-approved collaboration and project tracking tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Teams, or equivalent federal-compliant platforms).

• Previous experience coordinating Congressional data requests, GAO engagements, or IG responses within a federal healthcare contracting context.
