Physical Damage Appraiser II – Heavy Equipment

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Investigate and assess moderately complex damage claims and losses related to heavy equipment and trucks.

• Review loss notifications and insurance policies to confirm coverage, deductibles, loss payees/mortgagees, and coverage periods.

• Analyze estimates from repair shops and independent appraisers for precision.

• Examine photographs for consistency in damage and any previous unrelated damage.

• Assess vehicle values and repair expenses to determine whether repairs are feasible or if it is a total loss.

• Conduct field inspections and generate physical damage estimates.

• Address questions regarding coverage, liability, and claim valuation.

• Negotiate, settle, and resolve moderately complex claims and losses.

• Establish adequate reserves to manage exposure.

• Prepare damage estimates using electronic estimating software or through manual calculations.

• Negotiate claim settlements with insured parties, claimants, and legal representatives.

• Agree on repair costs with repair facilities.

• Process payments within the approved check authority.

• Address inquiries from insured individuals, claimants, and agents.

• Provide expertise to the claims team on intricate repairs, total losses, and damage to heavy equipment.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• A minimum of five years of experience in truck/heavy equipment collision or mechanical repair, claims handling, sales, or related roles.

• Multiple state insurance adjuster and appraiser licenses must be obtained within six months of hire.

• Strong technical understanding of heavy equipment and truck collision repair techniques and standards.

• Familiarity with engine, mechanical, and hydraulic repair techniques and standards.

• Proficient in electronic estimating software.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with conflict resolution and negotiation capabilities.

• Basic computer knowledge required.

• Occasional travel may be necessary.

• A valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report according to company standards is required if traveling.
